Celebrate the Best Tacos in Texas at a Texas Monthly Taco Fest Near You
Celebrate the Best of Texas Tacos at Texas Monthly's Newest Culinary Event
GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS / ACCESS Newswire / May 28, 2025 / Get ready to indulge in a mouthwatering experience as Texas Monthly hosts its inaugural Taco Fests, celebrating the Lone Star State's finest tacos in an unforgettable culinary event on May 31 in Grand Prairie at EpicCentral and June 7 in Houston at Discovery Green.
Texas Monthly's inaugural Taco Festivals
The highly anticipated Texas Monthly Taco Fests are an exceptional opportunity to sample the diverse flavors of our state's beloved taco culture. The festivals promise an evening filled with gourmet bites and a lively atmosphere that celebrates the "New Tejano" culinary movement in Texas with music, food, and more.
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Taco Fest to EpicCentral. Events like this showcase what makes our city so special," said Ron Jensen, mayor of Grand Prairie. "We have a vibrant, welcoming community, incredible food, and one-of-a-kind entertainment. EpicCentral is the perfect destination for families and visitors to enjoy everything Grand Prairie has to offer. We're Grand Prairie proud to host a celebration that brings people together from near and far."
Featured Tacos and Special Access
At the heart of the festivals are the acclaimed taquerias, carefully selected from Texas Monthly's prestigious, first-ever "50 Best Tacos in Texas" list, compiled by the magazine's two-time James Beard Award-winning taco editor, José R. Ralat. The lineup includes both traditional street-style fare and avant-garde flavors, showcasing the depth and range of Texas's taco scene.
The restaurants hail from as west as El Paso, as north as Amarillo, and as south as the Rio Grande Valley. The chefs' specialties exhibit their blended cultures, from the traditional (lengua, birria, and cabeza) to the playful (menus inspired by anime and sci-fi) to the very Texan (ahem, barbecue!). With nixtamalized tortillas, kimchi salsa, nopalitos fritos, a Big Red-meets-barbacoa mash-up, and deconstructed chiles rellenos, for starters, the evening's menu provides an eclectic vision of taco cuisine.
For those seeking an exclusive experience, VIP tickets grant early access at 5 p.m. and shorter wait times for a premier culinary exploration. General admission starts at 5:30 p.m., when all attendees can start savoring the offerings and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the festival.
Talent Lineup
Our Texas Monthly Taco Fest stages are heating up! We've got a music lineup that'll keep the party going while you dive into the best tacos in Texas.
Cumbia classics meet pop covers in an array of acts, including performers Bo Bundy & Friends, Clave H3, and DJ 5.Slow, DJ Paul, and poets Tammy Gomez and Lupe Mendez. The music and vendors are curated by the non-profit organization Nuestra Palabra.
Supporting a Meaningful Cause
Texas Monthly is proud to collaborate with the Zavala Family Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals in the restaurant industry who are battling cancer. A portion of all ticket proceeds will be donated to the foundation, offering festivalgoers the opportunity to support others while enjoying Texas's culinary delights.
How to Be Part of the Celebration
Mark your calendar and secure your tickets for the ultimate extravaganza, an evening of great food, entertainment, and a vibrant celebration of Texas's rich taco culture.
