The new capability is designed to help merchants prepare for changing regulatory requirements across Europe and manage invoice data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Across the EU, governments are moving away from paper and PDF-only invoicing toward digital invoice formats that can be processed by accounting systems and, where required, shared with tax authorities or approved e-invoicing platforms.

The changes are being introduced country by country. France's phased e-invoicing rollout begins on September 1, 2026. Germany has already introduced mandatory e-invoice receiving requirements, with sending requirements expanding from 2027. Spain is also preparing a progressive rollout for B2B e-invoicing from 2027.

For businesses and creators selling internationally, these changes create new responsibilities and increase the need for flexible invoicing tools.
