Alldritt set to face Ireland despite groin 'tightness'
France No 8 Gregory Alldritt said Wednesday he is fit to face Ireland in a potential Six Nations title decider despite missing two training sessions this week with a groin issue.
The La Rochelle forward suffered the injury before heading to Dublin in the penultimate round of the tournament on Saturday, when France can move above the hosts to top spot in the table with victory.
The 27-year-old's involvement hands France a boost as they aim to win in the Irish capital for just the fourth time this century.
"It feel good, I felt a bit of tightness yesterday," Alldritt told reporters.
"Today I felt nothing but the staff prefered that I didn't train so to keep my energy for the weekend," the 54-time international added.
A win at Lansdowne Road would open up the Championship race with one weekend remaining when Ireland head to Italy and France host Scotland next Saturday.
Third-placed England have an outside chance of the title before welcoming Italy on Sunday and then heading to Wales.
Alldritt's France teammates include a host of major names, notably Antoine Dupont, but have just one title to their name, the 2022 Six Nations Grand Slam.
"We've finished second four times," Alldritt said.
"If we can avoid finishing second five times, that’s what motivates us and drives us more than anything."
