A diving Pant hurt his left hand while failing to grasp a wayward delivery from Jasprit Bumrah that went for byes.
The 27-year-old received on-field treatment and appeared to take painkillers.
But at the end of the over, Pant decided he could not continue and was replaced behind the stumps by reserve wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.
British broadcaster Sky reported that Pant had chipped the nail on his right index finger, was icing the injury and planned to return.
