Norway queen leaves hospital after pacemaker surgery: palace
Norway's 87-year-old Queen Sonja has left hospital after undergoing surgery to fit a pacemaker to correct an irregular heartbeat, the royal palace announced on Friday.
Royal officials said in a statement that the queen was in "good health" but would be on sick leave until January 24.
The queen was briefly admitted to hospital in Lillehammer in southeastern Norway after suffering from an irregular heartbeat while cross-country skiing.
Following the episode, the queen had a pacemaker fitted at the Oslo University Hospital on Thursday.
Sonja's husband King Harald, who at 87 is Europe's oldest reigning monarch, was also fitted with a pacemaker in March after contracting an infection that left him in a weakened condition during a private vacation in Malaysia.
