KUWAIT: The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) issued nine violation reports and destroyed 115 kilograms of meat of unknown origin during an inspection tour of food establishments in Farwaniya Governorate, the authority announced on Monday. The tour was carried out by the authority’s Farwaniya food inspection department. In a press statement, PAFN said the inspection was carried out with the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Khaitan food inspection centers as part of stepped-up checks on compliance with approved health requirements and regulations.
Other violations included using extra space without the necessary approvals and thawing frozen meat to sell as fresh. Inspectors also found failure to follow general health rules and adulterated food being handled without a valid health certificate, the authority said. PAFN said the tour was part of the Farwaniya food inspection department’s efforts to tighten oversight of food establishments, tackle violations and ensure the safety of food on the market to protect consumers. — KUNA
