Goalkeeper Earps retires from England duty before Euro 2025
England women's goalkeeper Mary Earps said on Tuesday she is retiring from international football weeks before the start of Euro 2025.
The 32-year-old helped the Lionesses to Euro 2022 glory and was between the posts as they reached the World Cup final the next year.
Earps, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Manchester United last season, has made 53 England appearances.
She has faced tough competition for the England number one shirt from Chelsea's 24-year-old Hannah Hampton in recent months.
"I have taken the difficult decision to retire internationally," Earps said on Instagram.
"There are so many dimensions to this decision, the details of which aren't important now but what it boils down to is: it's now the right moment for me to step aside.
"I know that this won't make sense to some who are reading this, you can trust that I would not be doing this unless I thought it was absolutely the right thing to do, as much as it hurts," she added.
Euro 2025 takes place on July 2-27 in Switzerland with England playing their opener against France on July 5.
