Cubic Awarded Follow-On Contract Supporting Lockheed Martin F-35 Air Combat Training Subsystems
Delivering secure, real-time training data to accelerate readiness and mission effectiveness
SAN DIEGO, CA / ACCESS Newswire / May 6, 2026 / Cubic Defense has secured a follow-on contract award from Lockheed Martin to deliver 140 P5 Internal Subsystems (IS) units supporting F-35 Lot 21 production aircraft. The capability allows 4th and 5th-generation aircraft to train together seamlessly in live flight events while safeguarding critical tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP).
"Modern air combat training depends on trusted, real-time data," said Tammy L. Schmidt, Vice President and General Manager of Advanced Training Solutions, Cubic Defense. "Our P5 capability delivers the data needed to accelerate decisions, strengthen operational advantage and enhance readiness for U.S. and allied forces."

At the core of Cubic's P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS) is the ability to capture, transmit and analyze high-fidelity training data across a globally connected network. The system supports live and post-mission insights that drive continuous improvement in tactics, techniques and procedures, strengthening readiness across more than 30 ranges in 17 countries.
Cubic, along with its principal subcontractor, Leonardo DRS, will be supporting all contractor activities relating to the statement of work. The P5 IS improves training systems used by the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, and coalition partners. The capability empowers Warfighters to relay precise time, space, and position information (TSPI) data throughout training missions-enabling joint, interoperable exercises with coalition partners on a unified platform.
This award builds on Cubic's November 2025 contract supporting the Lockheed Martin F-35 training program, advancing data-driven training and operational readiness.
